This house built in 1900 sits in Pennsylvania. It has a lot of history from the Family that use to live in the house. The Family who lived in this house were very wealthy and also owned another house not far up the road that was recently demolished. The women who lived early use to be the illustrator of Ladies Home Journal Magazine sometime in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Her cousin was also the financier for the Civil War.This house use to have gardens and other buildings behind it but the construction of the bypass next to it caused them to no longer be there. Another family member was friends with President, Woodrow Wilson daughters. So your asking why does it look like this today, well issues with family caused them to move away and the owner of this property later on moved to another state to be near his son. He put this place up as a rental property but thing went down hill from there. Tenants were stealing his goods from the attic. A lot of stuff in the gardens was auctioned off in 2007 for a lot of money and now the house sits here abandoned. It most likely went up for sale but with the highway right next to it, no one was interested. The current owner of the home still has the deed of the house on sheepskin paper. That how old it is. Special Thanks to Barb D for sharing all this great information with me. Enjoy and video to follow.

  1. Steve, great video. I used to live on Mancil Road just off of Sandy Bank Road. Is that house near an old Quarry? As kids we used to play in that quarry and sled there in the winter. Thanks again for a bit of nostalgia!

  2. Hello! This is my first comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and tell you
I genuinely enjoy reading through your blog posts.
Can you recommend any other blogs/websites/forums that go over
    the same topics? Many thanks!

  3. Can you tell me why the Bella Vists was abandoned and why the current owner doesn’t wish to restore such a beautiful home? By the way, I came across your site completely by accident while looking for something to read when I could not sleep one night. Now I’m hooked and it’s fascinating. I wanted to be an architect (got married with kids instead) but find the architecture of these places fabulous as well as the history of each one. Thanks for the wonderful information and videos. Keep them coming.

    1. the current owner is a developer and they want to do the usual and tear it down, build more homes sadly. That awesome you found me that way. Glad i am able to provide you with some content 🙂

  5. Is this property still available? Needs a tremendous amount of work, however still looks like a good shell despite roof. Roofing issues can happen in brand new houses.
Please contact me at my email.

  6. The property is 1900 Abandoned House, Southeast PA. It has a rich history of owners as Ladies Home & Garden and cousin was friends to President Woodrow Wilson & daughters.
