Abandoned: Late 1900s
Status: Vacant but being fixed up
Reason: Institution Closed
EXPLORED with Permission from Owner..
Built in the early 1900s, this large house was part of an institution and was the home of the superintendent. When the institution closed in the late 1900s, this house was vacated as well. The institution was bought by a private buyer in the mid 2000s but the sale did not include the land this house resides on. The State of Pennsylvania still owned this house until recently when a preservation group acquired it. They are actively fixing the place up and it will be a museum showcasing the history of the institution it belonged to. This house was vacant for over 20 years and since it was well protected by the state, it has probably one of the best looking interiors I have seen for over 20 year of vacancy. I was given permission by the preservation group to tour this house, so that is why you see these photos.
